Three hours beside Deer Creek on the Tribute Trail, shaded most of the way, with the water next to you almost the whole route and downtown Nevada City just a few minutes behind you.
What you’ll do: walk out along the creek at a talking pace and stop when something is worth stopping for. Learn the trees and the water. See what the gold rush did to this canyon and what has grown back over it since. Come back knowing what you were looking at.
Who it’s for: most fitness levels, families included. Easy grade, no scrambling, shoes that can get dusty.
Groups of up to eight, so it stays a conversation rather than a lecture.
