Nevada City Historic Downtown Walking Tour
Comfortable shoes, water, a layer
Guided walking tour of historic downtown, gold rush and local history
Nevada City has one of the best-preserved gold rush downtowns in California, and almost none of the story is written on the buildings. Ninety minutes on foot and you will read every block differently.
What you’ll do: walk the flat downtown core at a talking pace. Hear about the fires that kept burning the town down and the money that rebuilt it every time. Meet the miners, the Chinese community that built much of what you are standing on, and the block where the theatre, the saloons and the courthouse sit within a stone’s throw of each other.
Who it’s for: first-time visitors, locals who never got the real story, families with kids old enough for a 90-minute walk, and anyone with an afternoon to fill before dinner on Broad Street.
Flat, slow and entirely downtown. Come dressed for the weather.
